Business & Community Services Clients

Provides an integrated approach to meeting the needs of businesses, entrepreneurs and communities throughout Iowa and beyond.  BCS leverages the intellectual capacity and practical experience of faculty, staff and students to solve the problems of its external constituents through specialized training and technology transfer, small business counseling, market research and analysis, innovative educational and technical advice related to the environment and environmentally sound practices, and hands-on community and economic development guidance.    

Center for Disability Studies in Literacy, Language and Learning

The Center for Disability Studies in Literacy, Language and Learning is an interdisciplinary effort that explores, promotes, and supports the literacy and communication development of children with significant disabilities through effective, education-based practices. 

Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE)

Nurtures a positive environmental ethic and develops environmental literacy in children and adults.  This mission is carried out through educational programming, instructional materials development, educational research, and community outreach. 

Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education (CHGE)

The UNI Holocaust and Genocide Education Committee aims to increase our knowledge about the Holocaust and other genocides as well as to strengthen our commitment to confront genocide and other threats to human rights, such as intolerance, anti-Semitism, racism and ignorance.

Center for Social and Behavioral Research (CSBR)

Conducts original research and provides research-related services for community, state, and federal agencies.

Executive Development Center (EDC)

Provides comprehensive and leading-edge leadership training and education to business people and organizations to improve and maximize their performance and results in today’s challenging and competitive business world.

Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC)

Offers innovative programs and services designed to provide quality arts education experiences to individuals, families, and communities throughout the state.

Geographic Alliance of Iowa (GAI)

Works to improve the teaching of geography concepts and content by helping to develop high quality teaching materials and the training to use them.

GeoInformatics Training, Research, Education, and Extension (GeoTREE)

Transfers geospatial technologies to the individuals from federal, state, local, and tribal government (FLST) agencies through education, multi-disciplinary research, and outreach activities.

Institute for Decision Making (IDM)

Serves as an economic and community development resource that guides local leaders as they make decisions and take organized action to improve their communities through results-oriented initiatives.

Iowa Center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration (ICILI)

Guides and prepares Iowa communities and businesses as they accommodate immigrant and refugee newcomers living and working in Iowa.

Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC)

Serves small businesses by providing assistance with environmental regulations, waste reduction, and the latest environmental technologies. 

John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC)

Fosters the development of entrepreneurship throughout Iowa by providing and facilitating support for a variety of direct educational, consultative, and other services.

Metal Casting Center (MCC)

Provides educational services and technology transfer activities to promote increased productivity for the metal casting industry.

National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS)

NPPS' mission is to help the public create safe and developmentally appropriate play environments for children.

Richard O. Jacobson Center for Comprehensive Literacy

UNI's Jacobson Center for Comprehensive Literacy (JCCL) works with Iowa schools to improve literacy for all Iowa students. 

Recycling and Reuse Technology Transfer Center (RRTTC)

Provides an interdisciplinary research, education and outreach center serving Regent university researchers and students, Iowa citizens, business, and industry.  The RRTTC’s goals include the development of economical approaches to solving intractable solid waste problems and providing research and technical assistance on public health concerns as they relate to solid waste concerns.

Regents’ Center for Early Developmental Education

Focuses on improving early childhood education in Iowa and supports educational efforts that emphasize children’s interest, experimentation, and cooperation.

Regional Business Center (RBC)

Offers technical, financial, and support services through classes, counseling, and a business resource library for Northeast Iowa entrepreneurs.

Science center for Teaching, Outreach, and Research on Meteorology (STORM)

Initiates, supports, and coordinates activities that relate weather information and conceptual models of the atmosphere to user communities in Iowa and the Midwest.

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

Offers small business counseling services and educational programs for business formation.

Strategic Marketing Services (SMS)

Helps businesses grow by delivering accurate, affordable marketplace intelligence through long-term market research and technical assistance.

Tallgrass Prairie Center (TPC)

Provides research, techniques, education, and source-identified seed for restoration and preservation of native vegetation systems.
